SOO many rumors this week and I am SICK. I can’t have my emotions being played with like this. Amongst the chaos, there has been some actual news with some fun looks sprinkled in between.
Anyway, let’s get into it.
Y/Project is officially closing down and the state of the fashion industry really just continues to be so upsetting. After Glenn Martens stepped down as creative director, the brand was looking for a buyer but failed to do so.
Hot, popular, celebrity favorite brand does not always equal enough sales to stay afloat, unfortunately.
On the other end of the spectrum, Christian Lacroix has been acquired by the Spanish company Sociedad Textil Lonia!
This was another brand that came to a tragic end, as haute couture is not where a brand makes its money, but that was Lacroix’s bread and butter. Anyway, interested to see how this goes! I have a thought, but I’m scared to say it out loud.
- Heard a rumor that Kanye West was going to be appointed as the new creative director of Maison Margiela. Listen, I know he has a long history with the brand, but PLEASE. I’ve also heard it might be Glenn Martens which is a lot more pleasing to me. Imagine Glenn’s mind at Margiela? I’m gonna pass out. Last rumor is that Jonathan Anderson is leaving Loewe and going to Christian Dior. While Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe makes my heart flutter, seeing him do Dior couture is going to be life changing.
- Speaking of Loewe, the Loewe x On collab?! This campaign? Love, love, love! Reminds me of old sportswear campaigns and how they actually featured actual movement.
- Miss Sixty is coming back with Bella Hadid as the face of their latest collection. Makes sense.
- Not my favorite Loewe look, but this is sweet! I think it’s tailored well, and while I don’t mind the darts at the bust area, I do wish the fit was just a touch different. Regardless, a nice simple look, and it kind of makes me think of Gwyneth Paltrow’s pink Oscars look.
- I much preferred Cynthia Erivo’s Loewe look, which I understand is not everyone’s cup of tea. The hoop is just so absurd and fun, and obviously a reference to the latest collection.
- Ell has been EATING. But also! Alessandro’s Valentino has been looking so fantastic on everyone?? I love that they styled this dress with a fur coat; all the colors are scrumptious! While there’s something added to this looks specifically, a lot of the looks have also looked very good on their own without the Alessandro-esque accessorizing.
- Sabrina Sato got married and wore the most insane Giambattista Valli dress. Like you’re joking?????? The most beautiful creampuff.
So that was this week! I just watched Conclave, and I had a real fun time with those messy Catholic divas. I wish the ending was a little meatier, but still, gorgeous film!
