Hello everyone. In personal fashion news, I have been very confused. Did that rhyme? I think maybe kind of. Anyway, the weather has been stressing me out, because I have no clue what to wear. Do I look like the asshole wearing shorts too early, or is it justifiable if I have a sweater on? Really, I don’t care how other people perceive me, this is just an internal, me, problem, but.
My weather confusion is not the only thing I have to complain about this week though, so let’s get into it!!!
I know I mentioned this was happening a couple of newsletters ago, and now it has happened!!! This past week, Alexander Wang held his first fashion show since his MULTIPLE sexual assault allegations, and I’m not surprised, but it still makes me feel absolutely insane to see the amount of support he is getting.
So many celebrities and influencers apparently have selective amnesia, because even those who weren’t in attendance were showing their support.
I was so disappointed to see ex Victoria’s Secret members walking the show, and Kim Kardashian literally posted Instagram stories congratulating Alexander on the show. How much was the check Kimmie, and was it worth it?
We saw Dolce & Gabbana make the same comeback time and time again, but I don’t think Alexander Wang has the same power. I’m Not defending D&G in any way, but they are a much larger luxury fashion house with a rich history. Alexander Wang on the other hand has never created anything of significance, and just piggybacks off of ideas that already exist. His younger fans might find some pieces groundbreaking, but really, they’re uninspired.
I just can’t be one of those people that separates the art from the artist. It’s interesting to see people that spoke out during the #MeToo movement and were disgusted by Harvey Weinstein, turn a blind eye when it comes to their bestie Alexander Wang paying them to support him.
I’m not done being annoyed just yet. H&M is no stranger to a designer knock off, no fast fashion brand is, but one design style in their “conscious” collection is awfully similar to that of designer Chet Lo’s signature look. The designer debuted his first collection in 2020 after graduating from Central Saint Martin, and is know for his “durian” knit; you may have seen Doja Cat and SZA wearing his designs in the “Kiss Me More” music video.
H&M’s new collections claims to be designed with “circularity in mind”, but copying a young, queer, designer of color, and recreating their designs in a way that only mass production techniques can do, just to stay hip with the trends, seems pretty performative to me.
And if your argument is that “popcorn” shirts have been around forever, I really recommend taking a class on knitwear before you comment on something you know nothing about. Chet Lo’s technique is far from simple and easy; it’s a complex art that produces a stunning end result.
We have two very polar opposite collections to discuss this week, starting with Rodarte. From blush to black, with bright blues and pinks sprinkled in between, this season’s collection really leaned into ballet; something the brand has pulled from in the past. I also felt the presence of some flamenco styles throughout the collection as well. My favorite part of the whole collection were the spiderweb knits that we last saw in 2008; so delicious. The knit capes with feather trim were especially fun. The pointe shoe heels were sweet, and while tulle wasn’t used in the most groundbreaking way, I did enjoy seeing it as a bustle. Graphic dresses, sharply cut before turning into tulle, weren’t my favorite and sequin dresses with tulle boleros were cute. Lace and silk slips were quite lovely and romantic. Overall, not super groundbreaking, but very Rodarte.
From romance to grit, time to talk about KNWLS. First let’s take a moment for the furry cat ear hats. Nodding to Harajuku and rave style, they’re just the right amount of ridiculous and I’m obsessed. Previously known as Charlotte Knowls, KNWLS has always been know for their sexy corsets and barely there styles, but she’s growing and evolving!!! Texture this season is in abundance with shearling, chunky knits, and fringe. You can’t tell me that the Bratz wouldn’t be all over the styling and proportions of these pieces; I’m right there with them. The clothing is sexy and a little silly, but really tailored to perfection and the craftsmanship is evident. Something I always love about KNWLS is the taste of darkness and danger sprinkled throughout; it’s about ~balnace~. Also this little leather romper is everything to me.
These are going to come to an end soon, so let us enjoy them while they last. Honestly, should I just keep a dedicated Rihanna style section going after bebé is here?
This is my new favorite image.
It’s giving, business meeting at 3, dinner at 7, pajama party at 9. I did exhale gravely when I spotted the Wang shorts, though.

- Lucien Laviscount for Bello; This man makes me blush. Y’all already know I’m tuning into Emily In Paris season 3, even if it is the bane of my existence. Anyway, I wish we saw this full Valentino look, because it apparently was styled with matching shorts, and I feel like that’s something we all need in our lives. The AMI suit with sheer top underneath is good, and I love all the styling of the pieces here; it’s always nice when there is actual styling done, and not just full runway looks. This SASQATCHFABRIX jacket and pants is really lovely and I’m honestly really into the Erdem jumpsuit with matching hat. Uhm, also, the Dunhill cardigan OVER suit?! Styled by Carlotta Constant.
- Simone Ashley for Elle; Simone is the most beautiful girl in the world, so really, anything she wears automatically awakens my bias, but if I’m being honest, this isn’t terrible. I really love the use of all the color, but it’s nothing too crazy; the Dior is cursed. That Etro dress is really stunning. Styled by Anna Trevelyan.
- Jeff Goldblum for Sharp; I simply will not refuse an opportunity to talk about Jeff Goldblum; I was once in the same room as this man. I don’t really have celebrity crushes, but this man is as close as I get to having one. Anyway, Jeff is a fashion girl, and I love that for him. There is nothing here I dislike, and what’s more, I feel like these are all looks that Jeff would actually wear in his daily life. The Fendi moment is everything to me. Also that Tod’s tracksuit with zebra socks and leopard loafers, PLEASE! Styled by Andrew T. Vottero.
- Imaan Hammam for WSJ; I have also seen this woman IRL and I did in fact fall in love. Anyway, I think the styling and shots here are great overall. The only look I could have gone without is the Louis Vuitton and also the Dolce, of course. The Miu Miu mini needs to watch out, because this green, embroidered Miu Miu dress has also been making its rounds, and it’s catching up. The Loewe, Molly Goddard, and Raf Simons looks are my fave. Styled by Kate Phelan.
- Lila Moss for British Vogue; Okay, not much to talk about here, but let’s ignore the Dior and talk about the flower bonnet and Loewe breastplate?! Very good. Very good. I wish we’d seen more of this, because I think the butterfly motif with floral headpiece is a sweet idea. God, I wish I was a nepo baby. Styled by Joe McKenna.
- Di Petsa “wet look” knitwear has got my acting up. My bank account is yelling at me to stop being dumb.
- A lot of people hated this, but I’m kind of obsessed? As far as the embroidery, feathers, and overall textures go, it feels very relevant to what Prada has been doing lately, and the collections they’ve been referencing. The turtleneck underneath is fun to me; I don’t mind it at all, and all the colors look fantastic together.
- Listen, we know she’s going to be wearing Dior, so I’m just happy its one of the least offensive looks. This is very simple, but I think that’s what MGC does best, and should do more. It’s tailored really nicely and I enjoy the gold neck piece.
- Is Natasha a fashion girl? Because lately I’ve been very intrigued by her looks. I think this is a good Cavalli pull, there’s definitely more interesting choices, but I’m really confused by celebrities wearing outfits that look like the background of the carpet; it all gets lost.
- The Euphoria girlies all kind of ate this week. Leading the pack we have Alexa Demie in vintage Norman Norell. I mean? How major? I had to post a full 360 of this look, because I couldn’t get enough. Alexa is really serving “old Hollywood” darling here and I think this is really lovely. Also, very here for a nip moment.
- Maude wore Versace, and overall I don’t think this is a bad look; it’s similar to something we saw Daisy Edgar-Jones in. However, I do wish the boning on the waist was in black, I think it would have made the look stronger and would have tied everything in together.
- So this is actually a shirt, or tunic if you will, and I think Hunter wears it as a little babydoll dress very well. I think Hunter and Law Roach have a really good relationship when it comes to her styling and her looks always feel fun and true to her.
- I’m torn on this look, because it’s not a bad suit at all, it just looks like something Kris Jenner would wear, you know? It ages Sydney a bit, but at the same time I feel like she typically leans more towards a mature style, so maybe that’s just her thing.
- Jacob never really gives us much of anything, but at least this corduroy jacket is a little bit fun.
- You might remember me raving about this Fear of God collection in a recent newsletter, so what better way to make me love it even more, than have Zendaya wear one of the looks? She’s really in her pant suit era lately, and honestly, I’m not opposed. The lack of lapel here is delicious, and it all fits her perfectly.
- Miss Barbie in Proenza Schouler is very good. Love the little turtleneck and the boot. It’s simple, but the texture and asymmetry of the fabric adds a little something.
- NOAH!!! A girl after my own heart!!! We all know my feelings about the masterpiece that was Glenn Martens collection for Jean Paul Gautier Couture, and Noah looks amazing here; the color if this dress looks stunning on her.
- If there’s one person should be decked out in custom The Row, it’s Lizzie. But instead, we get my grandma’s outfit for my future wedding. The color’s nice, I guess.
- I’m sensing that Daisy is a Gucci girl, and I love that for her. This isn’t anything super crazy, but I’m into it. The very circular breast cups are giving cone bra; very fun. I love this almost stapled closed top, and the fur(?) trim is a great touch.
- Would Gigi like to donate her birthday look to me, because I would be the most grateful. I love Dion Lee, and this full lace moment is so stunning. The tiny belly chains going from the corset to the pant are such a great detail.
- Julia knows exactly what she’s doing. Do I need to consider attempting a peek-a-boo hip? Anyway, I love that she’s been leaning into her dominatrix era.
Like these pleasers? Come ON!!! Gaga is about to send a cease and desist.
So that was this week. I can’t think of anything else to say, because I’m working on something super fun that I really hope you all enjoy, so stay tuned.
TTYL!!!
