Not all that much happened this week so this will mainly be an Academy Museum Gala outfit review.
Anyway, let’s get into it.
- Paul Mescal for GQ; Very good choices were made here. For the greater good, even! This very much taps into Gladiator ll being for the boys AND for the girls. Styled by George Cortina.
- Alex Consani for Interview; This is so incredible, I can’t take it. Styled by Dara Allen.
- Saoirse Ronan for British Vogue; This is very refined but very lovely, however there is an editorial that Saoirse did for something before, and I can’t recall what publication it was for, but I remember it being similar and a little more effective. Styled by Nell Kalonji.
- Lorenzo Serafini has been appointed as creative director of Alberta Ferretti. Makes sense with the Philosophy of it all.
- Houston, we have a Prada!
- Zendaya in vintage Bob Mackie to honor Cher is insane, actually. She looks stunning, and not only is the hair giving Cher, but the look itself is too, as Cher has worn a very similar Bob Mackie look in the same silhouette. Law Roach has said in the past that his long straight hair is also in homage to Cher and watching her show growing up, which is another sweet touch.
- This Prada set is stunning. Simple, but that halter is a fun time and fits incredibly. I don’t mind the waistband here, I feel like it ties in the skirt to the top and the arm bands are also a nice touch. Dua’s styling has been rough recently, so I’ll take this, gladly.
- Andrew Garfield used to be a Gucci boy, which leads me to believe he’s actually an Alessandro boy. Regardless, really lovely suit. The pants are tailored well for their wideness, and I like the print on print with the scarf and shirt.
- Alright, gala time. Not Addison’s most insane look, but those colors are so beautiful. I also love that she went with an evening gown that is very fitting of her overall style while still being appropriate for the event. Also! I’ve heard her next single is called Aquamarine so I’m assuming that’s where this siren-esque look comes in.
- I have not seen if this is the actual dress or a recreation, but I’m going to go with recreation just bade off of logistics (update: indeed a replica). She’s selling you on this! It’s giving leading lady, it’s giving I need a fainting couch. Honestly, very lovely, very Ariana.
- I’ll be honest, I actually really like this mid-thigh and up— even the silly bows! However, there’s something about nude mesh that often feels very strange to me when it goes full skirt.
- I really do wish she’d worn the jacket, because it was insane, but I get it. Regardless, I think the dress stands on its own and leans into the before and underneath of couture.
- Him just holding that cat clutch is sending me a little bit, but still a lovely smoking jacket, and I love the delicate lace glove.
- We’ve seen this silhouette from Louis Vuitton before, and it’s a good one! Tailoring could have been just a touch better as to not break that beautiful bubble as it reaches the ground, but other than that, stunning!
- She wore a very similar dress to Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2025 show, just with a bit of a different neckline, and it’s still very stunning, but would love to see some variety from the LV team for her!
- Big L for Prada. It almost looks like you glued the top layer to the lining and it dried weird. This feels strangely crinkly and not in the Prada way.
- Eddie Redmayne and Harry Lambert are one of my favorite celebrity and stylist pairings. This suit is tailored beautifully, the polkadot is fun, and the scooped waistcoat is a dream.
- Greta, the Loewe princess, does it again. These floral printed feathers reference the most recent Spring 2025 collection, but this bubbled bottom is something we’ve seen in past Loewe collections as well. It’s just a dream.
- Oh, a delicious little cream puff! I love the way this is pleated, almost creating a smocked effect at the top. I also really enjoy the wide waistband here, because it feels almost like a piping bag of icing being pulled through.
- Kaia Gerber wearing Givenchy by Alexander McQueen is most pleasing to ME! Naturally, this was styled in a more theatrical way on the runway, however, this dress really does stand on its own, and it’s perfect for the event.
- Let’s start with Kendall. The Schiaparelli gown she’s wearing is very simple, but I often think Daniel Roseberry’s most pulled back looks are some of his strongest. A black velvet is always very enchanting, and the bodice feels like a surrealist Schiaparelli pussy bow blouse— love. There’s also something about the top that reads a little Mugler to me, which ties in perfectly to Kylie (and Kim’s) Thierry Mugler looks. Here’s the thing, I actually think this looks a lot better on Kylie than it did on the runway. Thierry Mugler would love her. Anyway, I like the skirt and the whale tail, low-rise look of it paired with the nude sequin top. I’m not obsessed with the seams running down the sides, but what really gets me is the nipple pasty. It’s always so amazing to me to see the Kardashian’s make sexy things sexless with the shapewear of it all. They make sensual things sterile, and for people whose whole brand is their body, it really is interesting.
- Y’all know I don’t use the word flattering to describe anything, ever— it’s reductive and means nothing. So, when I say that this does not fit right, I don’t mean that it isn’t flattering, I just mean that the garment does not look the way it’s supposed to look. Although the bust area is debatable, the bodice fits beautifully, duh. The bottoms, however, oy. I also just don’t think this is appropriate dress for a gala. There are ways to subvert evningwear, and I just don’t think this is that. Oh, and don’t get me started on the nude tights with the plastic shoes.
- This is hot. Laura Harrier is a simple girl, but this unraveling skirt makes a simple column gown so sexy.
- I don’t really have much to say here, it’s just a beautiful dress and I had to include it. I love the dropwaist so much. A feathery Erdem shoe wouldn’t have hurt, though.
- Pamela Anderson in The Row makes sense to me. Also a WOOL column gown??! I’m eating it up!
- Paul is a Gucci boy, so he’s obviously wearing Gucci. Listen, it’s a plain black suit and it doesn’t fit particularly well, so, I don’t know what you want me to say.
- I, too, would like to be a golden Louis Vuitton tulip. I mean are you insane?! This bell shaped skirt is beautiful, and I can’t stop staring at the bodice. It’s like this dress just clicked into place onto her.
- Rooney Mara always gets it. She’s giving My Fair Lady and I’m obsessed. Again, a beautiful dress that makes sense and doesn’t need to be a direct copy and paste pull.
- Prada recovers after the Demi Moore mishap! I enjoy this very much. I love a good, chunky, Prada embroidery, and I like the the top looks like some kind of latticework situation. I’m not a fan of a clutch on a red carpet, but here it kind of just gets lost in the black of it all, so I’m not too mad at it.
- Selena Gomez has been really killing it recently. Her styling has been quite simple and refined, but so stunning? I mean this AlĂ¯a gown is stunning. I love the blue suede (?) with the black leather bust peaking out. Also! Let’s take a moment for the waist and how beautifully it’s fitted without needing a belt or waist seam— incredible craftsmanship.
So that was this week! I’m going to go watch Bram Stoker’s Dracula because I need some good costume design and camp in my life.
TTYL!!!
