How’s everyone doing? I kind of feel like death, but we’re pulling through! I’ve been trying to get through my summer fashion wish list, but I also hate spending money<3 Would you be interested in seeing my current fashion wants? Let me know!
Anyway, this week’s newsletter is also a bit of a quickie. I’m still working on the menswear fashion week reviews, but they should be coming to you within the next couple of days!
Botter, designed by Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter, have won the 2022 ANDAM Fashion Award. Robert Wun received the Special Prize, Bluemarble received the Pierre Bergé Prize, and Dolly Cohen received the accessories prize. Congratulations to all!
I love Botter, I think their work is really interesting, and look forward to seeing more from the brand.
- Zendaya for Vogue Italia; This is Law Roach’s first cover since becoming an editor at British Vogue, and it’s Zendaya so of course the shoot is stunning. All the nepo models are really lucky Zendaya decided to become an actress and not a model, because she’d eat them UP. Anyway, I although nothing over the top, I think the styling is really lovely, and I also think using all Italian designers was a nice choice. Zendaya is a Valentino girl, so of course we got a little Valentino Couture mini on the cover, but I really loved the Attico dress, and I wish we could see this Giorgi Armani look better because it looks really good. This shoot was inspired by Josephine Baker as well; always love knowing Laws thoughts behind styling. Styled by Law Roach.
- The Jacquemus x Nike collab dropped the day after the Fall 2022 show, and naturally it’s sold out. What do we think? Are we impressed? I’m not surprised with what it looks like, but I’m also not gagged. I think the sneakers are really ugly.
- Harry Styles style watch time!!! First we got this full polkadot moment. It’s very Yayoi Kusama and I’m into it.
Then Harry went full Care Bear, in probably my favorite of his performance looks of the week. I think the tee is sweet, and the baby blue leather pants are great.
Finally we got another polkadot top, paired with a brown leather pant. I like these pieces individually, but I’m not sure I’m sold on them together. I think it’s the colors. There is a little red seem on the side of the pant, tying in the shirt and shoe, but I’m not 100% sold.
- Sam Smith wore this sweet little lace number by Harris Reed and they look so lovely!!! Harris knows how to make a romantic lace, let me tell you!!!
- We all know Megan’s stylist is my archenemy, but I guess I’ll give her this one. I mean it’s hard to mess up a simple, Nensi Dojaka mini. Nensi typically sticks to a neutral color palette with her clothes, and sometimes dips into pinks, reds, and oranges, but I would have loved to see a custom look for Megan. This isn’t bad, but it’s also not the best Nensi look we could have went with. Either way, at least it’s not a matching set. MGK on the other hand is wearing a Chet Lo top, and we love to see it. I don’t really discuss his style, because he’s usually wearing Dolce & Gabbana, so ew, but this time, I will give credit where credit is due. Chet Lo creates the most stunning knitwear; often in his signature ‘durian’ style, it’s not the easiest thing to construct but always worth it. The pants on the other hand, make no sense.
- Kendrick wore this pavé diamond crown of thorns and the Catholics went mad. Anyway, it’s stunning.
- OKAY RITA, I SEE YOU!!! Honestly, I only ever see what this woman is wearing when she’s on a red carpet, and it’s usually not great, so I love this little Diesel denim number for her.
- Tessa Thompson has been on a press tour for the new Thor movie, and she has been serving looks. This Interior moment is beautiful. Tessa said she looks through Vogue Runway for fashion inspo, and honestly same, girl. When I saw this dress for the first time, I gasped, so I’m happy to see someone wearing it and giving it the attention it deserves.
She also wore this Puppets And Puppets dress, and I love. It has this amazing lobster tail bustle made from bows that looks amazing in motion. I also love the fact that she wore a bustle even though she’d be sitting; same.
Then there was this Schiaparelli moment. We don’t see color from Schiaparelli often, so it’s always nice to see. Not my absolute favorite, but still cute. I love that she went for it with the boot, and while I understand why she didn’t wear the actual gold, metal breastplate, I still wish she had.
For the premiere, she wore a custom Armani Privé gown that I believe is based off of a Fall 2011 dress. I absolutely love the way they changed it for Tessa, and think it looks better than it did on the runway. Armani does simple, well fitted gowns, so that’s what we got, but the cutout and extended hip adds just the right amount of sexy. I also feel like this metallic silver dress was chosen, because Tessa’s character in the MCU wears silver armor. Can’t confirm or deny that theory, but either way, I love.
- Kris Jenner attending a dinner in this large, green, Carolina Herrera, taffeta gown is making me giggle, because of course she just casually threw this little number on. Kris loves a caftan, mumu, billowy moment.
- We got ‘Renaissance’ cover art, and not only is it stunning, but it proves that her British Vogue spread was a definitely a preview of this new era. Beyoncé is wearing Nusi Quero, a designer who creates really beautiful, structure pieces. It’s amazing to see such a famous, influential women giving smaller designers and creators a platform to grow.
- Adele in custom Schiaparelli Couture is everything to me. Would I love to see Adele in something crazy and over the top? Sure! But she loves a simple black gown, and who better to do that than Schiaparelli. She’s wearing this beautiful, cold-shoulder, halter neck, velvet jacket, paired with a black chiffon skirt covered in sequins, and finished off with Schiaparelli gold jewelry and belt. The fit is incredible.
Her night two custom Louis Vuitton look wasn’t as major, but still cute. I just know Nicola was capable of giving us something more interesting than a peasant dress.
So that was this week! I’m off to continue writing menswear reviews, because couture week starts tomorrow and I want to die!
TTYL!!!
