We just have a couple of things to get through before we get to give our unsolicited opinions about the things people wore this week and the way they were styled.
Just like with menswear, couture week will be getting its own newsletter, so stay tuned for that, because couture week was equal parts traumatizing and magical.
I try not to ask this of you too often, because it makes me gag, but if you enjoy this newsletter, please share it with your friends, families, sugar daddies, whatever; it’d be greatly appreciated. I’ll put you in my will<3
Less than a week after the death of André Leon Talley, the fashion industry has lost another legend.
Manfred Thierry Mugler passed away at the age of 73, due to natural causes.
Thierry Mugler and Alexander McQueen were two of the first designers that made me feel something when I looked at clothing. To think that two of the most groundbreaking and influential designers to ever exist are gone is crazy to fathom, but it brings me joy to know that their work will live on.
Mugler made women feel like they were more than what society decided they were. His vision was like no other, bending genres and going against the grain; his work will never be forgotten. Mugler was one of a kind.
If you don’t know much about Thiery Mugler, I encourage you to do a deep dive into his collections, and listen/read to him speak about fashion and his work.
After saying that he and the brand are engaged, Pharrell and Tiffany & Co. are under fire for copying Mughal Antiques for the “custom” sunglasses Pharrell was seen wearing.
Dating back to the 17th century, the original glasses are said to have belonged to Mughal royals, who ruled over the Indian subcontinent. Th emerald green lenses were said to help the wearer reach enlightenment and to ward off evil.
I mean, not to go all Diet Prada on this situation, but the resemblance is striking. The least Tiffany could have done was discuss the reference and give credit where credit is due. Believe it or not, cultural appropriation is actually still not okay!!!!!!
- Maude Apatow for W; One of my fave nepo bbys is getting her moment in Euphoria, but not so much in this shoot. There were two Chanel looks that weren’t the worst things I’ve ever seen, but also not the best. You can’t see much of the Louis Vuitton look, but maybe it’s better that way. Loved the Prada. Styled by Christina Holevas.
- Marina for Galore; Screaming, crying, throwing up. I have loved this woman since I was a little babe. I’d say this shoot is more about the overall shots than just the fashion, but I’m obsessed. Channeling Elizabeth Taylor, Marina looks like an absolute dream. This whole vibe feels very true to her, and I really like when a shoot feels authentic to the person in it; it makes me believe whatever story is being told. Styled by Alejandra Hernandez.
- Nicola Coughlan for Elle UK; I feel like Nicola is a fashion girl, and I love that for her; I want that for her. The Molly Goddard is a cute, fun time. The EGG dress could have easily been a Christopher John Rogers!!! I’m not sure how exactly that Roksanda look is supposed to be worn, but this shot is silly and I love. Styled by Aurelia Donaldson.
- Julia Fox and Ye tried to give Britney and Justin. I do love her cone bra denim top, because duh, but I’m also into the jeans. I won’t lie, I do have them in my cart. Leave me alone. Her second look was not as good. Mainly because it was custom, apparently, and yet she was adjusting the biker short/boot situation constantly. Then there was the Rick Owens dress and Balenciaga boots. A choice! My issue is not with the pieces themselves, but with how they fit her.

- Maddie had a little vintage Thierry Mugler moment and I’m here for it! The white pumps, eh maybe not, but this blue color is gorgeous and it fits her great.
- Ruth Negga in Prada was cute! I enjoyed the little sparkle in the black fabric and the pleated skirt. Not crazy about these boots with this.
- I really want Jaime Xie’s life. Just wearing fun clothes, doing fun things, taking fun picture. Anyway, this SS1992 Alaïa moment?! Absolutely!!! I love when Law puts her in vintage.
- This is cute! It fits her great, and given that she’s playing Pamela Anderson, I think a hot little dress is fitting. Pam would have served more of a moment though, lets be real. I actually thought the jacket and dress were all one piece until I saw a photo with it off. The jacket kind of reminds of crinoline.
- I feel like I’ve seen Sebastian in a suit this color before. Props I guess for not wearing a plain black suit, but I’m still bored; probably brings out his eyes though! I don’t mind a no tie moment, but in this case I feel like it would have made the outfit look more put together. And of course, boring shoe. On another note, how do we feel about Pam & Tommy? Will you be watching? Because, I was really excited to, but after hearing that Pam didn’t approve of it being made, it’s just not sitting right with mY SOUL!
- Seth Rogan really didn’t have to do it to em’ like that. You’re probably like, Caroline??? The grey suit isn’t boring, but the blue suit was??? Shut up, he looks good. I love the shirt underneath, and the relaxed styling. Also, it’s Fear of God, I respect that.
- Okay Miss Zaya!!! This PH5 set is so cute; their knits are so fun, and I love seeing them on a young person. Also, the Fendi boot?! Go off.
- We saw Sydney Sweeney wearing this dress in a different color last week, and I still love it just as much. These colors on Madelaine look stunning and I love the boot.
- Rihanna and her boyfriend were spotted in NYC as they are wont to be. More importantly, she was wearing a Prada SS2011 fur stole. That is all.
- Absolutely love Prada doing this shoot with these Olympic athletes!!!
That’s all for now angel bbys. I finally watched Tick, Tick… Boom! and Andrew Garfield is actually so talented it gives me a stomach ache.
Till next time!!!
