You guys!!! Met Gala next week!!! I am so very excited for this year’s exhibit and red carpet. As usual, a dedicated post explaining the theme and dress code will be hitting your inbox this week.
Anyway, let’s get into it.
- Doechii for Cosmopolitan; Love, love, love this new direction of Cosmo(we love Willa Bennett), and this editorial breathed fresh life into me. It really is so delicious and juicy, and my personal bias aside there is just no denying that Doechii is a fashion icon in the making. Her ability to chameleon through different looks and make you believe every single fantasy is something that I haven’t seen in this way in a long time. Styled by Brandon Tan.
- Addison Rae for Elle; The editorials were really giving this week. I’ve been wanting to write a piece around the Addison Rae craze, but I’ve yet to settle on an angle, so tbd. Anyway, this is a silly and fantastic girl next door fantasy that makes sense with everything she’s been delivering lately. It’s a little weird, a little hot, and a lot good. Styled by Alex White.
- Bad Bunny for Vogue México; Just scrolling and nodding my head. Andrew was actually the perfect person to style this. Well, other than Jessica Willis, but we know I love her. It’s easy breezy and rooted in reality. Styled by Andrew Mukamal.
- Desigual dropped their “Not a Doll” campaign with Ester Expósito and thought it was a good idea even after people (including a trans model they tried to get for the campaign) told them it wasn’t.
- Gucci sales dropped by 25% hahahaha. I hope they set their expectations for Demna’s takeover correctly, because this man has a lot of work to do and he’s not going to make a noticeable change quickly.
- Kendrick Lamar is the new face of Chanel and this makes the most sense to me. It’s a sunglasses campaign, which is great because sunglasses are unisex and although Chanel only makes womenswear, this will reach another demographic. I also can’t help but feel like it’s a little Easter egg. We know Matthieu Blazy is the new creative director of Chanel, and while Kendrick has worn custom Chanel in the past, Jacob Elordi (a Matthieu for Bottega boy), Timothée Chalamet, and others have also been wearing Chanel recently. Will he give us Chanel menswear?? I know that kind of goes against Coco Chanel’s whole thing but… she was also a nazi, so.
- New Balance x Miu Miu will be dressing Coco Gauff for her tennis tournaments. Well, yes! Coco is a perfect Miu Miu girl and I love this for her.
- There was so much drama around this look, lmao. People were like omg, Britney tribute and Tyla was like nah, just a fly outfit. Honestly, I see the Britney, but I also just think this looks like something Tyla would wear. Because, really, it’s just the color way. Regardless, does it matter?
- Very, very into this primary color situation. Daisy has been wearing quite a bit of Chloé, and I like her for the brand, but I’m not sure if she screeeeeams Chloé girl to me when it gets a little more boho.
- I actually think this Calvin Klein Fall 2025 approach makes more sense to me. I had mixed feelings about this collection, but it wasn’t bad.
- Conner Ives t-shirt spotting on Pedro Pascal at the UK premiere of The Thunderbolts, less than a week after the Supreme Court of the UK ruled that a woman is defined by her “biological sex,” and on the same day that the UK prime minister said that trans women are not women. Get yours now!
- Rough. There’s something about those bands coming around the torso and not going beyond the hip that feels very awkward. There was a time in life when Florence was one of my favorites to see on a red carpet and now I’m always underwhelmed.
- Not great. The whole point of these dresses is nude illusion which this is obviously not doing. I’m not understanding why we couldn’t have gotten Simone a custom dress.
- There is so much happening here. The gloves and the necklace don’t feel like they make much sense and that dress is bizarre. It came down the runway in white and wasn’t much more effective. I understand what it’s trying to do with the shredded front, but some extra workshopping could have been helpful.
- Well, this is interesting. Zac Posen x Kim Jones for Gap Studio??? I think it’s sweet that she’s wearing something by two of her friends, and you know Zac knows his way around a drape and a pleat. I really love the neckline and how the pleats twist into the halter.
- In theory these would both be simple done well, but they both have their flaws. Starting with Hozier, I love the longer jacket and I’m always here for a cummerbund. However, he’s like 6’7” and the pants are… too long? This man would be an ateliers dream, and yet! To make matters even more confusing, his shirt is too tight? Now Hana seems to be wearing a two piece, or a dress that looks like one, and it is not as effortless as it is trying hard to be. Other than the wrinkling, there is obvious pull at the seams and the top portion falls over the bottom creating this strange, bib-like waist seam? I think it would have been more effective if there was some kind of drape in the front, since we have this slinky off-the-shoulder moment happening.
- And here we have simple actually done well. PWAHHH! This fits her like a glove— it’s absolutely stunning.
- Y’all know Seán McGirr has yet to win me over at McQueen, and I wasn’t obsessed with this on the runway, but I think the dress is lucky that Chappell breathes some kind of life and authenticity into it. The shoe kind of throws me off— I wish it was a bit more period appropriate.
- I was actually thinking about what Greta post Jonathan at Loewe looks like, and if she’ll become a Dior girl, but regardless I know she’s gonna serve. LII has been one of my favorite obsessions as of late and they just know how to make very simple things, very interesting. This is divine. That perverse little dropped shoulder seam and low cut armhole are making me drool. Also, love how the train is pleated into the dress and how blunt it is.
- Another fashion girl that’s always going to serve!!! Love the open back and how the front of the dress goes over the shoulder and into the train. Oh, and those, oh so subtle godets in the skirt??? I die.
- This bridal collection was insanely beautiful and this dress is no exception. I think it’s very smart to place bridal wear on the carpet as way to kind of show that your wedding dress is, perhaps, something you can wear more than once and actually get your money’s worth!
- I had to include this, because I was kind of shocked that it was coach! My money was for sure on Miu Miu. Anyway, not the best. It’s sweet and I like this peachy color, but the fit could be better. Coach is so interesting to me, because they had such momentum a couple of years ago and just did not at all ride that wave? Don’t get me wrong, I love Coach and I think the accessories and bags are fantastic and doing just fine, but the ready to wear really had such potential to pop off.
- Love, love, love! I mean, it’s just everything I love about Vaquera. the cropped track jacket over cheeky, silk scarf dress is just too good. Also, the toe cutout of that shoe is so hot.
- Have been loving Lorde’s frat boy fashion recently. S/O Taylor McNeill.
- I leave you with Miley Cyrus, looking sickening in Saint Laurent Fall 2025. Those colors are so yum.
So that was this week! My allergies are trying to kill me.
TTYL!!!
