There wasn’t too much major fashion news this week, however, the way people are talking about this Gap campaign featuring Katseye is very confusing to me? I’m truly shocked at how many people are getting it wrong.
I also got back from Ireland on Tuesday and I feel like I’m still tired.
Anyway, let’s get into it.
- Toni, Shakira, and Yasmin for i-D; MY SHAYLAAAAAS!!!! You guys, I have not loved Love Island cast members this much in I don’t even know how long— maybe ever! The styling here is kind of bonkers sometimes, but in a way that is so delicious and feels like a very specific time in tumblr culture, especially when Skins was a thing. I love the leading photo, but I wish they were all in Di Petsa, since 2/3 are. I know Meg and Helena are spitting and throwing up, and I could talk about the hate these three got forever, but, anyway, I love them so much. Styled by Sam Knoll.
- Mikey Madison for Vogue Italia; The simplicity here is very striking— so chic. And! Shot by Steven Meisel. Styled by Karl Templer.
- Gap released a denim campaign featuring Katseye and everyone is saying that this is their way at clapping back at American Eagle with a diverse group of girls and a campaign that embraces individuality. I’m going to stop you so quick. Gap has been making campaigns like this for YEARS. Also! Katseye is a girl group that already existed and was not put together just for this ad! Also!!!!! This campaign has definitely been in the works for months— way before the American Eagle campaign even dropped. Anyway, love a gap dance ad.
- Addison Rae is also promoting jeans. She created a low rise pair with Lucky Brand, which feels very right to me. I want a pair Miss Addison!!!! Both these ads, plus Beyoncé for Levis are obviously all better campaigns than Sydney Sweeney for American Eagle, but I promise you none of them are a response.
- In other concerning news, Serena Williams is promoting GLP-1’s in Vogue. I am not here to discuss or judge a woman’s choice to take a weight loss drug. I think the bigger conversation is why many feel the need to. However, the language used around it, especially from someone with such a huge platform, is incredibly dangerous. To make matters even worse and more sinister, her husband is an investor in Ro.
- Is this… real?
- A lot of really delicious leathers and furs happening here. I’ll admit, I don’t think it needed the matching glove, but still very lush.
- I do already miss when Julie was his stylist, I have to admit. I just feel like they had more fun!! Still, I do like this color story and I’m very interested int he shirt collar. Everyone’s saying the jacket doesn’t fit, but… it does? I’m more caught up in the length of the pants— too many breaks.
- I believe the movie they’re promoting is set in the 90s and mostly everything Zoë’s been wearing has felt quite fitting of the era. This dress is hemmed very well and I don’t think the halter with the high slit is too much, but I’m not crazy about the white bow. It feels very Saint Laurent, but it’s too stark for me. As for Austin, I’ve learned to not expect anything super exciting from him, but this suit is tailored beautifully and I love the ribbed tank underneath.
In Paris she gave us a little, pale yellow slip! I mean, not much to say. It’s cute and she’s hot, so.
I actually think she should have swapped this for the carpet and should have worn the yellow slip for daytime.
- This drama feels appropriate for Shakespeare in the Park. He also wore sunglasses and went sans shirt underneath with a pair of very high waisted pants and cummerbund.
- Cute!!!! This is a custom look based on Rodarte’s SS2012 collection, which I really loved. Like I’ve said before, when I become a famous actor, I will be on my hands and knees begging Dara to style me, because I truly think she’s the only one that will understand my mind.
- Tracee, just getting it, as usual. CJR is such a color master and this handkerchief skirt is to die for. I also really love the ruching in the halter top— it adds a bit of volume in a way that I feel really beautifully compliments the skirt.
- Finally I leave you with one of my favorite (and underrated, IMO) fashion girls, Venus Williams wearing custom Luar on the court!!! Love those signature buttons on the jacket so much.
So that was this week! My nail broke real, real low and it hurts to type very much, but! I have a piece in the works that I’m hoping will be very cool and that you will enjoy, so stay tuned.
TTYL!!!
