Yesterday my mom told me that I “actually put on a nice outfit for once” and I felt the immediate need to change, haha.
Anyway, let us begin.
The Lyst Index released the hottest brands and products of Q3, and for the most part, everything makes sense to me.
The top 10 hottest brands are:
Miu Miu (duh)
Loewe (slay)
Prada (truu)
Bottega Veneta (hot)
Versace
Saint Laurent
Monlcer
Valentino
Jacquemus
Burberry
Hottest products included:
Maison Margiela Tabi Mary Jane (this is so funny— look how good a scandal can be for marketing!)
Miu Miu cardigan (she’s simple and practical, but cute)
COS quilted bag (yeah fair, kind of Bottega effect)
Nike x Martine Rose Shox MR4 Mule (an example of successful influencer seeding and I NEED these)
Birkenstock Arizona
Tory Burch pierced mule (these are so hot)
Loewe Puzzle tote (this is a Jonathan Anderson stan account)
New Balance 550
Prada 3D flower heel (I saw SO many iterations of this shoe on the Spring 2024 runway— Miuccia’s impact)
Acne sunglasses
Chemena Kamali has been named as the new creative director of Chloé, following Gabriela Hearst’s departure.
If I’m keeping it 100% real, Gabriela made no sense at Chloé, so really, I feel like we can only go up from here! Chemena has worked under Phoebe Philo, Clare Waight Keller, and Anthony Vaccarello, so I look forward to seeing her debut collection!
- Carey Mulligan for Vogue; Now, listen, my standards for American Vogue are very low, but I feel like she let her hair down a little bit this month— she let loose! The creative direction of these photos is quite fun, however the way they’re lit makes wearing these gorgeous, gorgeous gowns pointless. Also, Louis Vuitton Resort 2023 on the cover? Yeah, don’t think I forgot when y’all hated on that collection so bad, but not I. I saw the vision. Styled by Tonne Goodman.
- Nicholas Galitzine for L’Officiel; Okay, I’m really confused why this editorial had been everywhere recently as it appears that it’s from May??? I literally thought I was loosing my mind reading the dates this week after Nicholas posted the photos on his Instagram. Anyway, he’s a Fendi boy, so he’s wearing Fendi all throughout this editorial. Usually, I hate when this is done, because it can feel like an obvious advertisement, but other than the shot of the bags, this avoided that feeling. Also, he looks stupid good. Styled by Sean Knight.
- Serena Williams will receive the fashion icon award at the CFDAs, and while I do think she’s turned out some looks both on and off the court, I still think this was an interesting choice. Also, I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face, when is Lil Kim getting this award?!
- Required reading!!
DVF dressed Manneken Pis, and why am I just hearing about this little bitch?! I’m obsessed.
- Zendaya wore Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood, and all is right.
- Taylor Russell wore two custom looks by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, based off of the FW1998 collection, entitled Joan. Listen, I actually have no clue where and why she wore these things, but I’m glad she did. It’s such an incredible feat to make a reference that feels just as striking as the source material.
- Cailee Spaeny wore custom Miu Miu to the London premiere of Priscilla, and… I don’t hate it! While I’m not crazy about the waist seam, which I know you expected, it fits her really beautifully! I think the light pink color is very sweet, and the curtain of crystals covering the boobies is so fun and feels very Miu Miu. There’s also something about the look that has an old school glamour, which feels complimentary to the film. Cailee has been wearing Miu Miu quite a bit on this press run, and that feels right to me. There’s something synergistic between Miuccia’s constant exploration of girlhood and Priscilla’s life.
- Taylor Swift wore Oscar de la Renta for the premiere of Taylor Swift: The Era’s Tour, and it definitely had potential! Now, this is a look from Resort 2023 that appears to have been edited for Taylor. You can see the really beautiful latticework happening with the patched together flowers, that create this naked style dress Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia have been exploring. However, they seem to have patched up some of those cutouts in the mid section of Taylor’s dress, which makes it feel like it’s being weighed down, whereas on the model, it looked like it was floating. It’s just too clunky and quilt-like around the waist and pelvis. Taylor is no stranger to an Oscar de la Renta naked style dress, and when I’m aware of this amazing moment, I can’t settle for a Cinderella ballgown that feels like it’s melting.
- Ice Spice wore Diesel Spring 2024 during her SNL performance, and I feel like I keep seeing Ice Spice wearing really cool pieces/brands, but they’re always styled in the most confusing way possible. There’s always one piece that looks like it was meant for a different outfit.
So that was this week! I’m really thirsty, but my brain said I could go get some water after I finished typing this, as a treat, lmao. Anyway…
TTYL!!!
