Not much happened this week, so we’ll mainly just be looking at some fashion— perhaps not the most interesting week for all the new subscribers, but I promise we get a little more intellectual over here sometimes. Also, the Met Gala review is coming, I promise, it’s just taking me a while, because, well, there’s a lot to get through.
Anyway, let’s get into it.
Edward Enninful has launched EE72’s digital platform along with 72 Magazine. The magazine will be printed quarterly and will cover, fashion, beauty, culture, and luxury. Very exciting!!
- Paloma Elsesser in this André Leon Talley jacket was truly everything to me this week. I mean, really, this whole outfit is everything to me. She’s so cool, and I just love and appreciate anyone that truly loves fashion and is well researched.
- Spoiler alert: I loved Jeremy’s Met Gala look, but his and Law’s collaboration went beyond that, and this blue steel, vintage McQueen look was divine. Adore the collar and wrap of that jacket.
- Forgot to include this last year, but I couldn’t not come back to it this week, because I love Tolu Coker, and honestly, I think Tyla should have worn this, or a version of this, to the Met Gala instead. It’s so much fun and so beautifully made. I love how the print is the same throughout, but not necessarily lined up.
- Pleas ignore the watermark— it’s the best quality photo I could find of this look— but she looks so good, it’s dumb. I mean, you can’t go wrong with a classic LBD, but this one is so beautifully done. I love the fraying at the hem and neckline, and the way the neckline curves. Also, the girlies look phenomenal.
- Every single one of Rihanna’s looks for Met Gala weekend was so, so good. For dinner with Anna the night before, she went with this Prada pantsuit, and I love the color story here. Also, now that we know she’s pregnant, it’s funny how the day before she announced her pregnancy, she was in this belted suit.
The first time I saw this look, the headline made it sound like this was her Met Gala look and the gears in my brain were already turning to connect it to the theme, and it wasn’t very hard. Miuccia is always challenging ideas of luxury and what it means to dress like a woman. That subversion alone feels pretty dandy to me. Regardless, very cute, very fun, and I love when someone uses their baby bump as an accessory and doesn’t hide it int he way that we’re ”supposed to.” After all, you only have it for nine months!
- Zendaya’s Patrick Kelly after party look is so lovely! I adore the way the feathered shawl plays off of the colors in the dress.
- I promise this isn’t because I’m not a fan of the KarJenners, because I always give credit where credit is due, but it fascinates me how she can just suck the essence of a brand out of itself. Still, I do love Dilara and don’t think this is a bad dress by any means, however the sleeves are a bit long.
- This is so fucking cool, I think I actually wish she wore this to the Met Gala. Obsessed with this fucked up little jacket, it’s just too good. It’s interesting to make something look beat up and stained with something luxurious like embroidery. I’m also obsessed with the hat, and it would have been nice to see a smaller designer on the Met Gala carpet.
- Hunter looked so hot in this Dilara Findikoglu look, I just gasped more and more each time I scrolled. I also love how opposite it was from her Met Gala outfit.
- Miley’s been wearing a lot of really good Alaïa recently, but this is one of my favorites so far. I just love these circular shapes Pieter has been doing, and this fur coat is so fantastic in its structure.
Also, this Tom Ford look should have been her Met Gala look. It would have made so much more sense for the theme and dress code.
- I can’t lie, Kendall really delivered this Met Gala weekend. This Mugler look is so simple, but so striking. I wish she would have worn her hair up so that we could see the neckline better.
- Shaboozey in Coach feels very smart to me. It’s an American brand, it’s a leather house, and he’s a country singer! I feel like there’s a really good relationship here that can develop. I mean, just look at how stunning this leather is!! All the Western details are lovely and it just fits so well. Also! Is he wearing tabis?!
- I like how easy both of these looks feel. Not only on their own, but as a pair. Kylie’s dress is simple, but it fits beautifully, and there’s still that subtle Schiaparelli surrealism through the texture and the earring. Then Timothée in Tom Ford by his bestie Haider Ackermann is… also simple, but fitted beautifully. I love the subtle flair of the pant and the piping on the velvet jacket. They look great!
So that was this week!!! I have to go do things with my mom because it’s Mother’s Day.
TTYL!!!
