Hope you’ve been having a wonderful holiday season, my babies. I spent Christmas Eve dinner arguing with family members about the importance of anti-depressants<3 It’s always a fun mystery as to what kind of ignorance I’ll have to deal with each year! Anyway, I wanted to post this on Monday instead of Sunday, because I thought including any Christmas looks would make more sense with this weeks newsletter than next weeks, you know? Although, there wasn’t really any Christmas content, so that was dumb.
After a stunning debut with his Spring 2023 collection, Maximilian Davis has done it again. Maximilian decided to debut this collection at the brands Los Angeles headquarters; historically speaking, Salvatore Ferragamo has a very large presence in Hollywood. Maximilian took this idea and expanded it outside of Hollywood, past the palm trees and into the mountains. He played with this idea of mixing hot and cold, and incorporated a Western flair that was inspired by Salvatore Ferragamo’s work on The Covered Wagon. There were stunning leathers, eel skins, silks, and a variety of looks that came together to create this modern Los Angeles style. I loved the shapes of a lot of pieces, especially the rounded motifs in skirts; even in full monochrome it looked beautiful and added some more texture and dimension to otherwise simple looks. There was a couple of plaid moments that were dressed up a bit, and I think tucking a tie into pants is silly and fun. I also enjoy how this collection continues a lot of ideas we saw in Spring 2023. My favorite being the heat reactive fabric, so yummy. The corseting of this denim is incredible and these pants are so fun. I like seeing the Ferragamo red, and I like how this more conservative brand is being given a youthful and daring upgrade. The fit, the tailoring, the subtle distressing, it was all so beautiful.
Our 2022 Model of the Year is none other than Miss Bella Hadid; chosen by both the industry and readers. I mean, I don’t really think anyone is surprised. The runner up reader’s choice was Adut Akech, and that would have been my pick as well. I love Bella, but Adut!!!
Alton Mason took it for the men, and like, yeah, duh.
Check out the rest of the categories, winners, runner ups, and nominees here!
- Robert Wun has been added to the couture schedule, which I think is more than well deserved. I can’t wait to see him close the season.
- Kate Moss for Marc Jacobs is so major. Although I wont lie, I did maybe think this was Madonna for a split second. ANWAY. I like this. In 1998 Juergen Teller photographed Kate Moss with bright pink hair which she dyed to walk Versace’s Spring 1999 show. She talked about how she only had it for a week and wished it had been longer, so even though this is obviously a wig, at least she got another ~moment~ with it.
- Kendall Jenner wore a lovely all black Rodarte slip, and I love it! Like I said, it’s simple, but it’s very Rodarte and I love it with the black tights and pump. I do wish the necklace made more sense with the neckline of the dress.
For Christmas, Kendall wore a Valentino red, sequin number. Again, simple, but fitted beautifully. I liked the train and this little swoop happening up top on the back.
- Kylie made this Alyx dress look so much better than it originally did. Styled on the model it was far too garbage bag. I mean, it’s still nothing groundbreaking, but at least it fits her incredibly.
Her and Stormi had a little matchy moment in custom Mugler, and I thought it was sweet. Kylie’s dress is nice, but that beige color was an interesting choice, I must say. The lace is lovely, and I like how it trims the dress before pouring into the train. I also love how the seem of the tights lines up with the dress. Kylie has been wearing a lot of Mugler lately, and honestly, I think it makes a lot of sense for her.
- Kim opted for a Versace moment, which is a little surprising. Obviously I’m happy that she’s NOT wearing Dolce, but since Balenciaga is out of the question, I assumed that’s the direction she’d go. Listen, this signature oroton chainmail shines beautifully and it fits her really well. I do think it could be a little shorter, and I also don’t understand this piped strap that seems to wrap around? It feels very separate from the rest of the dress. You’ll find a photo of Kourtney in this carousel as well, and honestly she tried to win me over with those godets, she really did. But as much as I love a godet, there’s too much happening here. I like the bottom of the skirt, and the rosette on the top is a nice take on a notted shirt, but everything being put all together is a choice.
- I think Khloé looked really beautiful in Nicholas Jebran. You might recall Kelly Rowland wearing, I believe this same dress, but in a leopard print recently, and I still think it’s nice in the red. Again, nothing crazy, but I love the neckline and the structured drape really is lovely.
- Kris wore vintage Valentino, and it’s fun. I like the full ruffle moment, and the bow in the center feels very… festive.
- Maude and Sydney’s stylists really hate them, huh? The colors of Maude’s Rodarte look are really lovely, but the asymmetrical draping over a cocktail dress with the cutout on the chest and the leather boot? It’s all a choice. Hunter’s leather draped look is simple, but interesting and if this is Rick Owens, then the boot makes sense. I love Thom Browne and there’s nothing really wrong with Sydney’s look per se, but I just feel like she can’t figure it out. We haven’t gotten a Zendaya look in a while, and this is definitely one of her less interesting looks, so to say, but I don’t hate it. It’s a lovely gingham skirt and I like that the wrap makes it look like there’s a faux slit. The padlock is very Schiaparelli, but I wish she’d also worn a fun Schiap shoe.

- Naomi Ackie has big fashion girl potential. I’ve loved seeing her red carpet looks and I appreciate that she always likes to go for it. This Versace look isn’t perfect, but it is interesting. I honestly that it was LaQuan Smith at first glance. Versace is no stranger to a drape, but due to the fabric, I feel like that draping is lost around the hips. It starts to feel like plastic wrap and the wrinkles don’t feel as intentional. I also don’t think that a slit was necessary here, but I like the hood and I think the shoulders are nice.
So that was this week! She was a short one, which is expected at this time of year, but let’s be honest, with fashion, you really never know.
TTYL!!!
