I definitely mismanaged my time in relation to how many looks we actually had to get through, so she is late this week. I’ve also kind of been going through it, and will kind of continue going through it until at least Thursday, but you don’t care!
Anyway, let’s get into it.
- Lily-Rose Depp for Interview; Love this Interview magazine meets stock photo editorial. Also, every time I see her know I think of that girl that met her and 070 Shake and how her trench coat was buttoned all the way to the top. Styled by Mel Ottenberg.
- Robert Pattinson for T; Nodding my head aggressively. Styled by Jay Massacret.
- Law Roach for Interview; This is insane. I’m obsessed. I feel like my smile just kept getting bigger the more I scrolled. Styled by Dara Allen.
- Harry Styles and Pleasing collaborated with Jonathan Anderson and JW Anderson, and his fans are not happy about the dicks, lmfao. Please. Anyway, I like that they reimagined the JW Anderson cardigan that blew up after Harry wore it. There’s also a lot of balloons which is very Jonathan Anderson as well. It’s cute!
- Rumor has it that Louise Trotter is going to Bottega Veneta, which is crazy, lmao. She JUST started at Carven and it’s been going well, in my opinion! Also the rumors of Matthieu Blazy going to Chanel are starting to feel a little too real for me, and like I said, he’s going to be good wherever he goes, but what he’s done at Bottega is incredible, and I think it’s finally starting to really and truly hit an identifiable stride.
- You know, everyone always talks about Serena’s fashion, but Venus turns LOOKS too, and I need us to hold more space for that!! Love this crispy, lined jacket, and I think this jumpSUIT underneath is silly and funny. I’m sure you all already know that I don’t love the jacket thrown over the shoulders without the arms in the actual sleeves, but.
- This is so chic. I love a good puffer, especially in a way that isn’t traditional. The silhouette is very stunning and I love the open zipper creating an off the shoulder moment.
- Wait this actually works for me? Seán McGirr’s McQueen has yet to grow on me, but Caroline is kind of selling me on it here. Perhaps it’s the styling and the way she’s adding a bit of herself to the look that makes it feel like it has some more depth than it did on the runway.
- Mona Patel in archival LaCroix? Knock me tf out. The skirt on the runway was a bit more pretty princess, but this liquid, metal, column skirt still works for me. It honestly allows for the corset to really have its moment, and I mean, WHAT a corset!
- THIS is what I want from Simone Ashley!! Every time I see what she’s wearing, I always want more, but here, I’m satisfied. I’m assuming there’s a crinoline in this skirt and its bell shape is so lovely. It’s such a fun way to create a high-low, and I love how it looks as if the ribbons of the bow pool out into the train.
- So, lovely. This could easily feel like a lot, but I think it’s done in a very smart way. not only does this blue satin skirt act as a nice frame for the black velvet column gown, but the off-the-shoulder really beautifully balances the pannier at the hip.
- Don’t know that I’ve ever liked Daniel Lee’s Burberry this much. I’m kidding, it has its moments! However, I’ve enjoyed the custom work a lot more than the runway. I think Daniel should really embrace “real” Londoners and English celebrities, not only in the campaigns, but also in the collections, which he has been pushing towards, but he needs to push even more towards that coolness. And this is so cool. I mean, that fur coat almost having this impression of a Burberry check?? So good.
- More Conner Ives on the red carpet!!! This silk scarf style dress has become a house code of Conner’s and I think transforming it into an evening gown was very smart. I do think there could have been a little less pull in the hip and the bust— perhaps the embroidery is a but heavy for the rest of the fabric— but overall, it’s so nice to see.
- Dilara Findikoglu has featured the union jack in her collections before, and they were in London, so this custom look very much makes sense. I love the way Dilara sees her woman and I love this look on Alex.
- A$AP Rocky was actually receiving an award this year, but you’d never know it with Rihanna in this delicious archival Christian Lacroix look. I mean, please, what do you want me to say? I know this is good, you know this is good, let’s move on.
The popped collar!! I feel like we don’t see all that much custom Alaïa, and while this is simple, I think it really makes sense with what we’ve been seeing on the runway recently, which is smart.
- So stunning. This is custom, and I love that the ruching is brought together with this braid running down the front. We saw those braid ties on the runway recently, as well as this dress in blue, and this is a nice way to continue that braided element into a custom look without it being exactly the same. This is simple, but it’s simple done so well, and I think the fabric is more opaque in all the right places to really draw your eye in.
- More very good Dilara. This is fitted so insanely well. The use of the boning here is very smart and scrumptious. I also love how the skirt looks like it’s shedding underneath and seeping out from the bottom.
- Oh, I’m obsessed. The structure and color of this dress are doing everything for me.
- I love seeing people wear small, independent brands, and Jawara Alleyne is one of my favorites. This was sculpted directly onto Ava’s body and she looks so dreamy and stunning. The safety pins holding everything together is such a fun way to subvert this very classic, elegant drapery.
- Anok Yai wearing the John Galliano collection that saved John’s career, thanks to André Leon Talley. We can only stan.
- How many times can I say I’m so happy Alessandro is at Valentino before y’all roll your eyes into oblivion? This is such a simple way to spice up a black suit. I love that the tassels aren’t just confined to the belt.
- This Schiaparelli dress is a little freaky and I’m not mad at it. I like all these protruding jagged edges and I’m into the neckline coming to a point. While I understand the rose and the thorns of it all, I think the rosette feels a little silly and pointless and I would have preferred it just being that sharp point to continue that motif running throughout the dress.
- A lot of Schiaparelli happening!! I like this in theory, but I do feel that it’s a touch over-styled. The gloves aren’t adding anything for me here, and instead kind of overwhelm the look. I like this cummerbund-esque waistband and I feel like bare arms would have added that negative space that it needs a little more of.
- Zendaya was receiving an award for Challengers so she’s back in her tennis whites and looks incredibly chic. An obviously very simple dress, but it’s incredibly crisp, and I loved the singular string running down the back.
- Josh is wearing a simple black suit, yes, but that tie!! It’s pleated like an accordion and is that special bit of whimsy that only Jonathan Anderson could infuse something so mundane with. I also really like the curve of the jacket and the front crease in the pants.
- It’s rare, but sometimes I don’t hate Dior! Do I think it would have been a lot more impressive had the lattice work in the bodice just bled into the skirt without the waist seam? Sure! But I do think it is done very nicely, and I like the sheerness of the skirt— it feels very ethereal and very Elle.
- This is fine. The gold, bamboo halter makes sense, because Gucci, and I’m intrigued by the ribbed dress. Although I do wish it was a bit crisper.
- Stun! Monica is playing Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown, and so this lace, bohemian gown feels very appropriate for that. It really is so lovely, and is tailored to perfection.
- I see the creasing at the pelvis and I’m going to choose to be blind for the moment. I just really love the simplicity of this. The fold over neckline into the big bow in the back, all in this champagne color, is just so glamorous.
- Emma Corrin is one of my fashion faves, as y’all know, and this is SO good. This Saint Laurent collection made me sweat, and I’m obsessed with this on Emma. While this isn’t technically period appropriate, I would say that the pie frill collar and sleeves kind of tap into the Nosferatu of it all. Speaking of which, I am SO excited for this movie. Also! Emma looked so striking standing alongside all the man in black suits on this red carpet.
She also wore Alexander McQueen, and again, I liked it! I didn’t really give this look a second thought on the runway, but Emma is making it so much cooler, and again feels like a nice pull for the promotion of Nosferatu. Very much woman in a dreamlike state walking through a foggy garden in her nightgown.
- Well! I feel like this has whispers of Karl but is very obviously Virginie (derogatory).
- Knocked me out. The incredibly structured pannier is so very, very good. I also like that that sharpness is taken into the bust and the neckline.
- When I saw this look on the runway, I gasped! My eyes sparkled! I’m actually not sure what she’s promoting, so I don’t know if this outfit has anything to do with it, but it’s extremely sweet. One thing I have noticed, though, is that Chloé seems to be leaning towards full look policy, and I think that kind of is the anthesis of this whole bohemian, cool girl rebrand, you know?
- Kerry Washington in Christopher John Rogers Collection 014 is a dream. This jacquard is stunning, and I love the way it kind plays with your eye depending on how far away you are from it.
- Who. Is. Doing. It. Like. Doechii?!!!!!!! Everything about this is perfect.
- Sabrina wore Chanel Fall 1994 and Martha May Whovier would approve— as do I!
So that was this week! I have a headache so I’m going to go do nothing.
TTYL!!!
