I know I said I’d probably do an Emmy fashion review, but I lied! I’m sorry you guys, these events are just so boring. Also, this is the second Emmy Awards this year due to the strikes that happened this year— I’ve met my quota.
This week I did many things that made me feel over stimulated and I will not be speaking to anyone for the next 5-7 business days xoxo.
Anyway, let’s get into it.
i-D magazine has appointed Thom Bettridge as its new editor-in-chief.
Honestly, fun! Thom was at SSENSE before this, and I definitely think that he makes sense for i-D. Happy we’re starting to figure out who all works over there.
- Chappell Roan for The Face; Oh this is an EDITORIAL!! I really enjoy The Face. Styled by Genesis Webb.
- Florence Pugh for British Vogue; This is cute and fine, but I can’t help but feel that this creative direction would have just made so much more sense when Don’t Worry Darling came out?? Styled by Venetia Scott.
- Dara Allen for The Cut; Dara really is a once of a kind talent. Literally on my hands and knees begging for her to style me when I become a famous actor.
- Alright, let’s do a few looks from the Emmy’s. Starting with Dakota Fanning, here she is wearing a dress by Armani, and honestly? Stunning. Very simple, which is to be expected of Armani, but the drape is lovely and effective, and those pearls compliment it so, so nicely.
- Honestly, very into this McQueen suit. I’m not a huge fan of bags on the red carpet, and this is a great example of why(-: The suit, however, is a lovely shade if pink, is tailored well, and I love a pussy bow blouse.
- Now here’s an example of a bag on the red carpet that I actually don’t mind at all! It’s not too in your face, and it also does a nice job of drawing the white up a little bit. Now, this Prada dress is divine. Love the fit of the blue over top, and the way the black pours out at the bottom with a white bow on the train is so weird and delicious.
- Very romantic, very fun. I like a black and brown together because it’s often seen as such a taboo, and while I love the ruffled shirt, I’m not too sold on it working with that jacket— it’s the lapels, I think. Pants could fit a smidge better, but regardless, I like that Andrew doesn’t ever give us super basic menswear suiting.
- Ayo wore Bottega at the last Emmys as well! I believe this custom dress is pulling from the most recent resort collection, no? (yes). Simple, but very lovely. From what I understand, this is a printed dress and then is entirely covered in these sequin paillettes.
- Objectively the best dressed of the night, argue amongst yourselves. This deliciously metallic column gown is beautifully tailored, and that draped neckline is gorgi. Also, get into the red shoe and how it draws out the little flecks of red in the flowers!! No one did it like her.
- Another hit from Oscar! This dress is made of woven sequins and geometrically placed crystals, and is truly some crazy craftsmanship. I keep zooming in to try and figure out her secrets.
- I feel like everyone hated this dress, but I’m obsessed with it, heehee. Lace is v expensive, y’all, and I love how kind of unserious it’s made here. Also, this donut neckline and the way it loops into the rest of the dress is a fun time. Very chic.
- Dan Levy wore a look by Loewe, based on their Spring 2025 Menswear collection, and while I very much enjoy the shirt, the pants are… tight.
- Chloë wearing Phoebe Philo is obviously something you look at and go, yeah, no, of course! I do think this is cute and fun, but it’s been really interesting to see the way in which Phoebe’s designs just do not hit the same way they once did. There is obviously a lot of nuance to this conversation, but.
- I used to really love Kathryn’s style and then it started to weirdly flop, but I’m not mad at this! On the runway it was shorter and more sheer, but I think all the adjustments made for Kathryn make sense. It’s not the best Rodarte look I’ve ever seen, but I like this tinsel fringe top. I do wish she’d worn the crown that came down the runway with this, though. You know I love a headpiece and she is playing an all powerful witch after all.
- Well, this is interesting! I think it’s so silly and fun how flat this pannier is. Loewe’s custom work is very often on the simpler side, but always a little bit magical in that Jonathan Anderson way.
So that was this week! On my way to review Bottega Veneta Spring 2025.
TTYL!!!
